Knife Sharpening Class & Workshop

  • Community Kitchen Pittsburgh 107 Flowers Avenue Pittsburgh, PA, 15207 United States (map)

Join Ben Buchanan, expert butcher to learn the basics in knife sharpening.

The most important tool in your kitchen is a sharp knife. Not only does it make cutting, chopping, deboning, and dicing easier, it's actually safer than a dull blade. Participants will learn basic knife care and. use, the types of sharpening techniques, and get hands-on experience with a sharpening stone.

Bring your own knives!

Admission includes:

  • Hands-on knife sharpening instruction

  • Cut glove

  • Sharpening of two knives

  • Mineral oil for sharpening stone or cutting boards

  • Disposable Cutting Board

50% of event proceeds will support workforce development training at Community Kitchen Pittsburgh.

If participants wish to bring additional knives, the Unified Fields team can sharpen them for $10/each.
